Take care of your critters and make sure they have fresh, UNFROZEN, water to drink and bring in a heated or enclosed space at night. They get frostbite too and it's painful. ::coffee::
Now, if it would JUST SNOW, and help us get over this fixation and back to ducking tornadoes. Just kidding.......... ::twister::

Yeah, it sucks having to go outside all the time to break the water for the ducks. Other than that they should stay warm.

It will be interesting how many peoples pipe burst because of this cold. Remember to let the faucets run.
And unhook garden hoses.

We'll see how good our newly fixed water pipes hold out. We live about 0.4 miles from the meter, and the pipe snakes around some areas too. So that's well over 2000ft of line to watch; though I seriously doubt the grounds going to freeze 2ft deep. All I'm worried about are the spots we've broke the line to put a valve on. These parts are exposed just a little.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some school systems run late Friday morning. I know we did last year and temps were just in the low teens.

Interesting. I want Friday off. I have classes all day Friday. That is doubtful though. College is a little harder to shut down.  :D

Looks like the closest we've come to zero in recent years was a low of +1 on 1/18/2003.  I'm going by memory that there was cold weather then, and I checked the records to confirm it.  I don't recall it getting as cold as that since then.

Besides that, I'm not sure we've gone below zero in Nashville since 2/5/1996, when a low of -3 was recorded.

So, it's been nearly 13 years since Nashville has had below zero temperatures, unless someone can recall another time or has a way to query weather records databases.

Tell me.  Not only do I have to wait for it to get bad enough to shut down classes, but I have to wait for the **** to freeze over before they tell staff to go home.

Hello all! Back after an extended period in time out! Word to the wise... no name calling of the mods. No matter how frustrated you get.

This period of cold is exciting... I'm just so frustrated we can't get a good storm out of it. Been watching videos of Memphis in 85, when I lived there and was  4 months old. Wish I could have experienced that and remembered it.

Run Late? They have called it off here in Sumner County for less.

What gives with the precip that is up in Illinois and appears to be moving South East.. I assume it is not coming for us since no one is talking about it...

That’s what troubles me. This notion that we have to take sides in this country now, you’re either with us or against us, Republican or Democrat, red state or blue state. No one looks at an issue and struggles over the right position to take anymore. And yet, our ability to reason is what makes us human. Lately, we seem so willing to forfeit that gift of reason in exchange for the good feeling of belonging to a group. We all just take the position of our team.”
