I noticed the band of precip is showing signs of increasing a bit.  If it was cold enough for snow, it would be a band of light/moderate snow about now...

Just think if all that moisture from the gulf could have streamed across our area while we had the cold air. Oh My.  ::snow:: ::ski::

Yes...the weather systems are a bit disjointed.  If we could've just got those two together.... ;)

SHORT TERM...(TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY)... COLD FRONT IS NOW
SLOWLY MOVING EAST FROM EASTERN KY AND APPROACHING THE CUMBERLAND
PLATEAU. VERY LIMITED SHOWER ACTIVITY HAS DEVELOPED IN ADVANCE OF
IT WITH SNOW SHOWERS REPORTED AT CSV THIS AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES
HAVE WARMED INTO THE UPPER 30S TO UPPER 40S MOST LOCATIONS WITH LNP
THE COOL SPOT IN THE LOWER 30S. DIFFICULT FORECAST AS PRECIPITATION
SCARCE BUT EXPECTED TO INCREASE NEXT FEW HOURS INTO THIS EVENING
AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND JUST BEHIND IT AS COLD AIR ADVECTION AND
LIFT ALONG THE MOUNTAINS TAKES OVER. MOISTURE DECREASES LATER THIS
EVENING AS AIRMASS BECOMES COLDER AND DRIER. DECIDED NOT TO ISSUE
ADVISORY WITH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS EXPECTED TO BE ONLY AROUND 1 INCH
NORTHERN SECTIONS AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS BUT UP TO 2 INCHES AT THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS IN SW VA AND THE EASTERN TN MOUNTAINS
. FOLLOWED
GUIDANCE BLEND FOR LOWS TONIGHT BETWEEN 15 AND 25 WITH SKIES
CLEARING AFTER MIDNIGHT. WEDNESDAY THERE WILL BE A BREAK IN BETWEEN
SYSTEMS AS HIGH PRESSURE TEMPORARILY TAKES CONTROL. SOUTHWEST WINDS
AHEAD OF NEXT SYSTEM MOVING TOWARDS THE REGION WITH NW FLOW ALOFT
WILL BRING SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL HIGHS FROM NEAR 40 TO THE MID 40S
AGAIN TOMORROW. HIGHER ELEVATIONS MAY BE ONLY IN THE 30S WITH
SLIGHT SNOW COVER FROM OVERNIGHT SNOW SHOWERS.
Looks like strictly a MTN snow shower event where the elevation can add a little lift when the northwest flow begins to develop.

Guess the mountains really are "God's country..."  They sure see more the of the "treasures..."  Job 38:22 "Have you entered into the treasures of the snow?"   ::guitar::  Guess that's where it's stored up...

Well, coming home from work drove through a mixture of rain and snow...sometimes coming down pretty good.  Here at home automated rain guage reports .05" fell in the little band that came through.  Temperature 35 and falling.

Looks like a pretty intense, but narrow band right over you there, according to radar loops.   ::snowman::

This may sound far-fetched, but we seriously ended up seeing the rooftops and the ground get a light dusting from this mornings snow. So we did actually technically see a dusting of snow from this system. The only reason it accumulated like it did was because of the rate it was falling. The ground was too warm for it to stick, but it was coming down so fast and abundent that it couldn't all melt before it accumulated.

Cosby, in the Smoky Mountains of Cocke County received about 1-2 inches of snow.  That county's schools are closed this morning.  Most areas in the mountains also got about 1-2 inches.  Just 8-10 miles from my house!!  Dang it...
