I would love to see some actual snow on my birthday, however, I don't much think it will happen.  I can't remember our last truly white Christmas.

Did you all get anything Christmas Eve in 2000? Up here it started snowing after dark. It wasn't a big snow by any means, but by Christmas morning, all the roads were slicker'n snot.

Surface temps and precip on Christmas Eve...

Surface temps and precip on Christmas...

Surface temps and precip Christmas morning...

Just look at the cold air that comes POURING in from the north.  Coldest air of the season, I bet.  Looking at the models, at least some of us could wake up to white stuff in the air with maybe some sticking to elevated surfaces...far cry from Christmas' past.

Given a 10:1 ratio, that would give most of the midstate at least 2-3" of the white stuff...but it's in Voodoo Land.

Yep... pretty good plug of moisture wrapping around behind the front.  Some snow shower activity might be a nice touch for Christmas.

I am SO ready to have some cold air locked tinto place before one of these storms moves in. Its such a crapshoot on the backside for any accumulation.

Being in a -PNA and not having good blocking in greenland, its hard to "lock" any cold in place.

Everything looks to snap back to the north pretty quickly after Christmas as well...at all levels of the atmosphere.

I don't recall anything happening here back then, but I could be wrong.  I seem to remember a few flurries a few Christmases ago, but nothing significant.

Didnt we have a snow aronund Christmas Eve in 1998?  I seem to remember the snow on the ground actually turned into ice and you couldnt even walk on the snow without busting your butt because it was as slick as ice.  I'm sure Thundersnow will remember...he is a walking Almanac.

Its not too far in voodoo land...under 200hrs.  I dont think we will see that much wrap around moisture but I could see a flurry dusting from that scenario.

 ;)

I think there was an ice storm right before Christmas that year.  It may have been one of those situations where there were sleet accumulations left over on Christmas.

Here's info from Wunderground.com:  http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KBNA/1998/12/22/MonthlyHistory.html.

It looks like the winter storm affected the area on 12/22-23.  The high on Christmas Eve was only 28 that year.

I don't have all this in my head... really.  I'm also good at looking things up.  ;D

But, I believe I do remember the wintry weather that time.
