BRING NASHVILLE TV BACK !
« on: December 12, 2008, 11:02:28 PM »
I HOPE SOMEONE from CHARTER  CABLE HERE in JACKSON, TN.
Read`s THIS  MESSAGE.
THE 10 P.M. News Cast was NOT ON OUR NORMAL CHANNEL`S 4 OR 6.
WSMV - 4 OR WTVF - 5.
I was told from a Charter Telephone Operater that Nashville has been REMOVED.
I SAY NO : BRING THOSE STATION`S BACK.THOSE TWO STATION`S ARE ONE OF THE BEST WE HAVE ON OUR CABLE SYSTEM HERE
IN JACKSON, TN.
I MAY SWITCH TO SATELLITE  IF  NASHVILLE IS GONE FOREVER. ::blowup:: ::panic::.

We are on satillite DisNet.  They removed Channel 2 this week due to the station charging too much money to broadcast on DisNet, or that was what we are told. I grew up in Jaxson.  Yor lucky to have anything after 10PM! We really like our staillite service except for this disagreement between the station and the provider.

Thank`s for your Comment.
I was thinking about switching to Direct Satellite
But I`m a little nervious about that now.
Charter has a GREAT LOCAL ON THE 8`S Here.
I don`t think Satellite has it displayed just like Charter does.
Even our other Cable Company : Jackson Energy Authority`s
Local on the 8`s is NOT Exactly the same layout.
If Nashville is GONE its a shame that there is a fight between the stations
and the provider.
Do they not care about the way their viewers feel or what the viewers want ?
I can read Nashville`s News on the Internet.
But thats still not the same as actually viewing it.
We`ve had WTVF  and WSMV  For several years.
Why fight now. ::blowup:: ::panic::
I still LOVE BEING AN AMERICAN !  AND LIVING IN TENN. ::flag::

If you are talking about local on the 8's on the weather channel, they just upgraded that on Directv. Your local on the 8's is very detailed for your hometown. You also choose to use the interactive forecast tool. It will pull up your forecast as well as regional radars. That is free from Directv and is used while the weather channel is on. The screen splits so you can still view the show that is at that time on Weather Channel as well as check your forecast.

WKRN was just removed from Dish Network as per Young Broadcastings request due to Echostar/Dish Network not wanting to pay the .30 cents per sub per day fee.

My guestimate is that Distant Network Service waivers for WSB in Atlanta will be blocked by Young Broadcasting.

Also I think Mr. Brantley was saying that they removed those channels from Charter cable in Jackson, but I thought Jackson was in the Memphis designated market area, maybe there were serving both Memphis and Nashville affiliates to Charter cable in Jackson and they decided to remove those two channels.

I thought that was interesting when i saw that a couple of days ago.
I think once Young finds out that no income is worst than some income from DISH they'll negotiate with a better deal. Of course, I don't know the other half, but for now I side with DISH.

THANK`S  FOR  ALL  YOUR  COMMENTS !
I Think Memphis`s Cable is COMCAST  NOT  CHARTER.
I think. But am not SURE.
I`m looking into Direct - Tv.
I don`t know what I`ll do with my Internet Service.
I Have Both With Charter For Now.
I`m gonna miss watching Nashville  News.
Are we all gonna now start having to read Nashville`s News
on the Internet ?
I still say WHAT A SHAME !
ARGUEING  Over such small amounts of money.
At Christmas. ::blowup::

Mr. B....

I have Directv also and am very happy with it.
Our internet service is done through our phone company.
Direct and your phone company are probably BOTH running deals and you can save some money versus what you are spending on Charter.

It's very simple if you want the best equipment go with Dishnetwork and if you want the most hd go with direct tv.  If you have any questions feel free to ask them .

I think the Direct remote control and 'on-screen' menu is much cleaner than Dish...however, I know it is a personal preference!

Direct tv equipment sucks.  Very slow and sluggish and takes alot of time to change channels.  I am with Direct tv now and have there top of the line HD DVR and can't wait untill my contract is up so I can go back to Dish and get the DVR 722.

Before you buy please try out both before you decide cause 2 years is along time to be stuck with bad equipment

Do you key in the channel (like 73 for ESPN HD) or use the remote to move up??

I haven't had any trouble with my DirecTV HD DVR. If you think it's slow, you ought to try a Comcast DVR. Those things are like molasses!  >:(

One question ... is it possible to flash those boxes with an alternative OS? The hardware I got from my satellite provider in Germany really improves when the OS is changed ...

I have used a comcast DVR and you are right it's bad. After being a dish customer and then going to directv there is a huge difference when it comes to how fast you can change channels and go though the menu system.  I have swapped my directtv box out 4 times and all of them have been slow.
