Thursday 12/4..Transition to Frozen Precip?
« on: November 29, 2008, 12:34:54 PM »
Models may be hinting that precip may not make it out of the area this Thursday before the cold air infiltrates. Not thinking snow either...poss freezing rain. BUFKITS for KMEM show 0.33 in FRZRA. May or may not be consequential, but the pattern is really starting to show itself overall.

.33 in FRZRA could be pretty consequential.

Looks like some heavy rain around that time too. Maybe a few flurries on the backside. I think if anybody is going to get something significant it'll be stormnine and those north of the Tn border.

Yeah   ::bacon::  ::bacon:: for me.  At least in this case as long as we get the heavy rain that will be just as good.  We also need some great snow but also some great rain events to kill the drought.

We need some rain around here.

I noticed that some snow and ice had sneaked into the forecast for later this week in Western Kentucky.   ::bacon:: for me, too!

This is shaping up to be kind of exciting, especially since I get to drive home in potential snow showers tomorrow!

So what is the current thought on this. I looked at the NWS forcast for franklin(37064) - showed 100% sleet/snow into Wednesday morning.  But ya'll aren't talking about it so perhaps it does not look good?
Just wondering....

That’s what troubles me. This notion that we have to take sides in this country now, you’re either with us or against us, Republican or Democrat, red state or blue state. No one looks at an issue and struggles over the right position to take anymore. And yet, our ability to reason is what makes us human. Lately, we seem so willing to forfeit that gift of reason in exchange for the good feeling of belonging to a group. We all just take the position of our team.”

Here's the part relevant to that from the AFD in Nashville this afternoon:

Quote
BELIEVE THERE WILL BE A POSSIBILITY FOR THE RAIN TO MIX WITH A
LITTLE LIGHT SLEET AND SNOW LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND EARLY
THURSDAY, BUT THAT SYSTEM BREEZES THROUGH PRETTY QUICKLY AND ANY
FROZEN PRECIP SHOULDN`T AMOUNT TO MUCH.

We should definitely keep an eye on temperatures with the precip by early Thursday morning.  If temps drop to freezing or below, there could be some icy spots on bridges.  This doesn't look like a huge event though.
