Looks like borderline rain right now with the 12Z. It's possible we could see something, I just wouldn't spend all day looking at models over it yet.

12Z GFS is interesting to watch between hours 102-180 (March 11-15).  There's a system developing further west in OK/TX... it almost looks like an overrunning pattern before the system slowly gets its act together and finally moves on.  There's a period or two that looks like a potentially significant event from Tulsa to Little Rock (especially around hour 108).  Precip also comes into TN during and after that time, with the 850MB freezing line lurking not all that far away, even dipping into northwest TN at certain points.  That's not so far away not to keep an eye on.  But, it will mainly be rain for TN if you take the run literally at this point.

Looks like a wet period at the very least.

Then, the run shows an unseasonably cold air mass settling in behind the storm on 3/17.  March 18th-20th looks cold.

FWIW,i just read Larry Cosgroves weatheramerica newsletter he puts out every few days, and he is mentioning a possible significant winterstorm may be in the offing from northtexas thru northcarolina starting wed-friday.Its his most updated newsletter as of an hour ago.he said with the arctic high building down and overunning precip, things could get interesting, but its still preliminary. That map i looked at shows a low tracking through southcentral mississippi. He mentions the storm should take a more southerly route since there is blocking up north.Models arent indicating anything really right now,but maybe later on. ::shrug::

Well, here we go again... the 12Z GFS is showing what looks like a strong cold core ULL traversing TN around St. Patty's Day.  ::rofl::

Watch the progression...

Yes... that was my first thought.  Looks like the 2/28-3/1 storm.  Taken literally, I like the look of the track of this one even more for Middle and East TN... but, it's too early to take this literally just yet.

It's the same basic setup as the one that came through a week ago though.  And, that's all we can really say at this point.  We'll need to see a few more future runs hold onto some version of this solution before getting excited about it.

it looks to be a pretty good hit for most of the volunteer state, if that would pan out.

That’s what troubles me. This notion that we have to take sides in this country now, you’re either with us or against us, Republican or Democrat, red state or blue state. No one looks at an issue and struggles over the right position to take anymore. And yet, our ability to reason is what makes us human. Lately, we seem so willing to forfeit that gift of reason in exchange for the good feeling of belonging to a group. We all just take the position of our team.”
